Thanksgiving Recipes

If you're looking for quick and easy recipes to prepare this Thanksgiving, you may want to use Thermos® products to get the job done. Slow Cooked Stewed Plums

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds plums, about 12 to 14
  • 1 to 1/4 cups sugar, or to taste, depending on how sweet the plums are
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

    Directions:
    Wash plums. Halve plums, remove pits, and halve again. Toss with sugar and the cinnamon in slow cooker. Combine cold water with cornstarch; add to plums. Cover and cook on LOW for about 3 hours. Serve as a side dish with roast pork or ham, or as a dessert with cream.

    Spiced Pumpkin Custard

    Ingredients:

  • 3 cups half-and-half
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups puréed pumpkin, or about 1 1/2 cans
  • Whipped topping or sweetened whipped cream

    Directions:
    Butter a shallow 2-quart baking dish. In a small saucepan, bring half-and-half to a simmer; set aside. In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Mix in pumpkin and warm half-and-half. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Set dish in a large baking pan. Add hot water to the large pan to a depth of about 1 inch. It should come about halfway up the side of the inner baking dish. bake for about 50 minutes at 325° or until custard is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool completely before serving; can be covered and refrigerated overnight. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or whipped topping.


    Butternut Squash Bisque

    Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 3/4 cup diced carrots
  • 4 cups peeled and cubed butternut squash
  • 3 cups vegetable stock
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • ground nutmeg to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional)

    Directions:
    Heat the oil and melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Cook and stir the onion in the butter and oil under tender. Mix the carrots and squash into the pot. Pour in vegetable stock, and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until vegetables are tender. In a blender or food processor, puree the soup mixture until smooth. Return to the pot, and stir in the heavy cream. Heat through, but do not boil. Serve warm with a dash of nutmeg.
