James Cramer and David Pace founded The Gourmet Kitchen in 1996. Both University of Alabama graduates, the two had a passion for gourmet cooking and wanted to gather and offer an inventory of products that appeal to cooks of all levels.
In 2005, a group led by Bill Marbach and Michael Nadboy bought the Gourmet Kitchen and re-located it to Boca Raton, Florida. Prior to the purchase, Bill and Mike were in management at Lodging.com, which grew into a 225-person operation that booked over $200 million in annual hotel sales before Cendant Corp. (NYSE: CD) acquired it in August 2002.
While there is quite a difference between hotel rooms and kitchenware, we believe that the customer-friendly environment we helped build at Lodging.com will serve our customers equally as well in this new category. As always, we will strive to:
People often ask us if this business is as well suited to the Internet world as the hotel business was. So far, it is. The convenience of being able to shop such a wide array of products is producing a steady stream of happy patrons who have not been shy about telling us they like our service.
Our teams in Boca Raton and Long Island, New York, are working hard to meet your needs, and we hope you join our ever-growing group of satisfied customers.
As always, feedback is welcome. We will personally read all suggestions sent to: comments@gourmet.org
Thanks again and have a nice day.
-Bill and Mike
